MoM - 16 Sept 2009: Feel The Burn

We had a new venue (again!) and this time was at Pecel Bu Kus, Barata Jaya. All of us were excited with the new environment.

The meeting's attendance was great and we've got a friendly guest: Rizal, and 2 special visiting Toastmasters: Irene Budi Prastiwi (President of Dynamic Toastmasters Club) and Johan Budiyanto (President of IEU Toastmasters Club).

Before the meeting started, we enjoyed the full introduction of our Exco team for 2009-2010, then witnessed a colourful Induction Ceremony for our newest member, TM Ketut.

The Toastmaster of the night, TM Rama, began the meeting by letting us know how important it is for us to always “Feel The Burn”.. and surprisingly everyone used the word “Burn” as the second Word of the Day..

During Table Topics, we had many hillarious moments as ACG CL Boon created a new style of table topics! Volunteers were called upon in pairs, one as a speaker and one as a gesturer. It has never been done before!

Although we only had 2 prepared speech speakers, we've been very much entertained by all of them. The first speaker was TM Billy and his speech stated the hillarious facts on the differences being female VS male. He was evaluated by TM Jessica.

While the second speaker, TM Pauline, inspired us how to be the fabolous flamboyant in our lives. She was evaluated by CC Irene. Having done her 10th speech from Basic Manual, TM Pauline is now officially Competent Communicator Pauline (Hurrayy!!).

On educational session, we learnt something new from CC Martin, who delivered “Evaluate to Motivate”.

At the end of the meeting, TM Leo as the GE referred the meeting as a creative meeting with a lot of new things. In TM Leo's perspective, new things are good for Toastmasters meeting.

Please be advised that our meeting on 16th of September will not be at Resto Kemiri.
For this time, we are going to have the meeting at:

Jl. Bratang (near Narita Hotel), Surabaya

Dinner will be ready at 6PM, while meeting will start at 7PM

Based on past experience, AC at this venue was not working perfectly, so let's be prepared to experience "warm" environment and do consider what to wear

MoM - 2 Sept 2009: Eat Smart for Your Health

Prime Steak & Ribs Restaurant, Manyar

Finally, we experienced a new atmosphere by being at a different meeting venue: Prime Steak.

Many of us were very excited about the change and there were 2 special guests that night: Subhan and Marissa. What made them special was their great effort to share us about themselves.

The meeting was led by a charming engineer, CC Rina, who reminded us of the saying “you are what you eat”. The Table Topics session was also related to food and our first-timer Table Topics Master, TM Juwati, creatively provided an incentive to answering her questions with free candy.

We had 4 great speakers performing their prepared speeches. The first speaker was TM Nadya, who talked about how cool it was to be a Facebook member. So, have you joined Facebook? She was evaluated by TM Ronald.

TM Leo’s speech talked about Dreams VS Goals. Dreaming and realizing dreams are reasons to celebrate our lives. So, are you ready for it? TM Rama was the evaluator of TM Leo.

Our third speaker, TM Jessica talked about mystical stories ranging from the success story of Indonesian tourism to Cicin’s famous incident, in which her stomach contained a wire and cutter left by a bad spiritual teacher. ACG, CL Boon evaluated TM Jessica.

ACS, ALB David gave us a lesson how to get people to say YES focusing on reciprocation, focusing on 2 methods. This speech was evaluated by CC Niken.
